 July 2010 Show Review
by Joyce Jackson

There was a good crowd of people at the July SCBC show. Hot dogs and hamburgers were served before the show began.

Coushate  Ramblers
The first group to play was the “Coushatte  Ramblers.”  Members are:  Buddy Brockett-banjo, Frank Witt-guitar, Jack Ritter-mandolin, Lorna Witt-bass, and  Dick Joiner-dobro.    Some of the songs they did were Listen To The Rain, Sittin’ On Top Of The World, Dance With Me Molly, Tennessee Border, Redwood Hill,  Wild Bill Jones, Rock of Ages, and Love Lifted Me with audience participation.  Dick Joiner asked Buddy to tell us the story of Ms. Potts Pit, and he did.  Good Job.

Lonestar Bluegrass Band

Next to perform was the group ”The Lonestar Band.”  We sure do enjoy sitting in on their “practice sessions” at Coushatta.  Members of this group are Chris Bagley-guitar, Chris Hirsch-banjo and resonator guitar, Matt Morris-mandolin and George Hanson-bass. Some of the songs they did were Rabbit Dog, Miles And Miles Of Texas, In The Jailhouse Now, Little Red Wagon, Just One Teardrop, Gimme A Bottle of Nyquil (by request), Gimme Three Steps (by request), The Rocket, Route 66 ,Kansas City Star, Tennessee Stud, If I Were Free, Paradise, Runaway Mama and Coleen Malone.  Good Show.  You all can come out and practice on us anytime.

Chinquapin Flat
The last band to perform was “Chinquipin Flats.”  Members are:  Glen Beaubouef-guitar, Jim Glenn-guitar, Angie Beaubouef-bass, Jack Ritter-mandolin and Dick Joiner-dobro. They sang Don’t Call My Name, Over The Hill (to the poor house), I’ll Always Love You, Big Spike Hammer, Sweetest Song I Sing, I Still Miss Someone, Blueridge Mountain Home, When I Was A Child, I’ll Fly Away (by request), Rock Salt and Nails, Long Black Veil, Cryin’ My Heart out Over You and Texas Plains. Good Show.

Most of the members of the  Chinquipin Flats and Coushatta Ramblers bands call Coushatta Recreational Ranch Home.  I am sure they have a great time without us, but I am so glad they invite us to come out and enjoy what they do.

Thank you so much!

Just a reminder also to start collecting your items for raffle, silent auction and the trash to treasure sale.
